Andy Cheshire

Andy has worked in a variety of sports organisations supporting young people demonstrating challenging behaviour, after which he was been heavily involved with gang intervention work and stopping generational violence between families, going on to show young people from Glasgow other parts of the world and how they can change their behaviours. 

Andy has run a wide range of community centres transforming the educational and community support programmes that are available to people as well as set up a variety of adult learning provisions. When he moved to Manchester he has worked as Community and Education manager at both FC United of Manchester and Curzon Ashton forming and delivering a wide array of programmes across the Greater Manchester area. 

Andy is passionate about young people, a need for a difference in education and the methodology in how we educate. There is a significant number of young people not attending school and opportunities for young people are fewer than ever. We need to change education to be meaningful and influence the lives of young people and what they need, to reform education so that it is not always in a formal setting, to transform the work that is done educating young people to ensure it is more focused around their direct needs.
